A Local Legacy

An oil painting by Canadian artist Clara Isabella Harris (1887–1975) was presented on the evening of February 10, 2026, by Danica Loncar on behalf of the Baby Point Heritage Foundation to Joanna Nicholson, President of the Baby Point Club, and members of the Board. The painting was carefully and fully restored by local artist Elizabeth Jackson Hall.

This restoration initiative was originally undertaken by the late Mary Anne De Monte Whelan (1956–2026), President of the Baby Point Heritage Foundation, a long-time Baby Point resident, and former President of the Baby Point Club.

The occasion honours and celebrates both the memory of the artist and of Mary Anne, whose respective contributions — each in their own unique and meaningful way — have helped preserve and celebrate the natural and built heritage of the Baby Point community. Their shared love of the neighbourhood now links them inextricably through this work, ensuring its legacy for generations to come.
